CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 UPDATES

Having spent much time today finding out what the new government rules mean and how I can best care for yourselves whilst remaining legally compliant, it seems current guidelines suggest I am able to resume my work. This has been supported by one of our governing bodies - the british farriers and blacksmiths association who are currently trying to give farriers "Critical business status" with the british horse council. This does mean I intend to adhere to original appointments over the next few weeks unless contacted otherwise. Please rest assured that I am doing everything in my power to abide by government rules regarding the virus covid-19, as well as adopting new protocols to minimise risk. These include; more regular hand washing/sanitising, regular tool sanitising, wearing gloves and of course social distancing. I kindly request that any persons are not in the immediate vicinity whilst I'm working. Any customers that are vulnerable to the virus and worried about their appointment, please contact me to work out an appropriate plan of action. I apologise for the mixed messages but the fast moving nature of the current situation has created much confusion within the industry. I thank you all again for your patience.

In light of the latest government announcement concerning the outbreak of covid-19, I have made the difficult decision to cancel all routine appointments except in cases of an emergency. I feel this is the most responsible way of interpreting the information given to us at this time. Direct communication has been made with those being directly affected. An emergency situation is where the farriery needs of the equine are at risk of causing severe long term damage (twisted/buckled shoes, collapsed hooves, lameness assessments). I will be in contact with clients about rescheduling affected appointments when the government have slackened rules on self isolation. Please get in touch if you have any questions relating to the matter. Thank you for your patience in these difficult times.
